From humble beginnings as a child musical prodigy, she could play the piano by ear at age 4, by 14 she was performing at open mike nights, and by 17 she was attending the prestigious NYU Tisch School of the Arts and honed her songwriting skills. Moving out she went to live in the Lower East Side and started performing downtown in the club scene.
